10 Life Lessons Learnt in 25 Years.
Like everyone on this planet, my life has
been full of breath-taking highs, and heart-shattering lows. As my 26th
birthday approaches at the end of this month, I thought I would take the
opportunity to think back and tell you some of the main things I've learned
while I've been on this floating rock we call home.
1.
You can. Whatever it is, you
can. You’ve survived loss, life-changing surgery, university, family changes
and all types of heartbreak. You’ve got this.
2.
Learn to say yes to what you want to do. Not what you think others
want you to do. It’s not worth the effort in the long run if that’s your
motivation.
3. Equally, say no more. Put what matters most at the forefront of any
decision. ‘Those who mind don’t matter,
and those who matter don’t mind’.
4.
Go with your gut. Any decision you’ve
made that goes against that feeling has ended badly. Take the hint.
5.
Family is more important than
you give them credit. If
the last 4 years has taught you nothing else, it’s
taught
you that.
6.
Put Greg first. He is the man
you will build your life with and possibly one day a tribe of your own. If the
metaphorical house is burning down, grab him and don’t let go. And trust that
he won’t either. He’s proved that so far.
8. Everything in moderation. Quit the
extreme all-or-nothing approach. It’s
never worked out, and it never will. Slow
and steady wins the race.
9.
Your mum is superwoman. Never take
her for granted.
10. Eat the damn chocolate, just less of it.
I hope
you enjoyed that (mainly) light-hearted segment of my brain. What are your top
10 lessons in your life?
